I drool over any vegetable...

Do you ever notice those restaurants with front landscaping of edible greenery (kale...) or herbs? My family never misses them because they think it is funny (not after the hundredth time) if one of them says: "Ezie, there is your food, we'll send the waiter out with your drink". It is true, I just drool over those colorful kales and cabbages or rosemary and lavender bushes that are used for landscaping. In fact, I drool over any veg or fruit. I don't think I have met a veg that I have not fallen in love with. So you see, on Thursdays and Fridays when I get emails from the local farmers on what is available for me to cook for you, I can not wait to get my hands on them. I can not wait to go pick them up, sort through them and decide what goes with what.

This week one of my favorite farmers, Melody sent me this:

THIS WEEK: Cantaloupes, Watermelons - sugar baby, amish moon and stars, virginia crimson sweet, wilson sweet, ali baba, desert king - Heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, garlic, okra, sweet peppers, lemon squash, lettuce, ground cherries, sunflower shoots, pea shoots, mint, lemon balm, oregano, basil and more!

So for this weeks menu I could not help but using all that she has available, yum! Melody grows all her vegetables without the use of chemicals, pesticides and all seeds and soil amendments are Non-GMO. She uses only organic certified and heirloom seed stock and uses companion planting. She uses cover crops, and practices diversity in planting. It just feels good to eat what she grows! You should see me when I pick up my order from her on Saturdays, I am always so excited, you would think it was Christmas and I was 5 years old.
