Super Bowl Food???
My lack of interest in football and Superbowl does not mean there will be no "Superbowl Food" at our house this weekend. Nachos, 7 layer dip, queso,.... is a must on Superbowl Sunday even if you don't watch the game, and only pay attention to the commercials ;) . None of these delicious snacks are low in calorie.
Worst part of eating those snacks/foods is the amount of sodium in them which is more than what someone should consume in one day. But who can resist!?!?!? Not me! What can I do to reverse some of the effect? And no, drinking lots of beer is not going to do it though Husband would like to think so. Turns out, supposedly foods high in Potassium blunt the effect of sodium.
This doesn't mean we get to eat salt by spoonfuls but if we over indulge this weekend, hopefully some of the items on this weeks menu will help us reverse the damage we will do. Some of the foods high in Potassium are: bamboo shoots, spinach, beets, edamame, kohlrabi, tomatoes, white potatoes, walnut, white beans, and so on. So, this weeks menu is dictated by these ingredients. Hopefully, you will have more will power than I do when it comes to "Super Bowl Food".
