Love your planet!
Ezie and Emil will have the privilege of serving Wakefield School Students an Earth friendly lunch next Friday in celebration of Earth Week. We are also hoping that we can encourage some of you to try to go meatless for one or two days next week in Celebration of our planet.
Did you know if everyone in the U.S. ate meatless one day a week, it would be the environmental equivalent of not driving 91 billion miles.
Why not take it a step further and try eating vegan once a week.
If every family in the United States vetoed meat and cheese just one day a week, it would create the environmental benefits of taking the family car off of the road for five full weeks. I can go on and on with stats of how you can help saving our planet and environment, but I also know you have heard it a million times and Google search can easily give you the information in palm of your hand. So I won't take your time but I do want to remind you that not eating meat, and not using energy to make all your meals can make a difference.
Buying local, using fresh, and not processed or can ingredients is not only better for you and your family but it is also better for our planet.
It was a little more difficult to put this weeks menu together than it would be usually in mid April as we were trying to use all local produce. The cold weather has not allowed the local farmers harvest the spring veg yet but a few of them were able to help us out so we can have as much organic and locally grown items in our menu as possible. Young kale, cilantro, asparagus, carrots, radishes, broccoli, green chick peas, shallots, green onions, lettuce, beets ..... are some of these ingredients. We hope you give them a try if you usually don't go for the veg :)
We are looking forward to cooking this weeks menu for you; and hope that you will be enjoying it as much as we will be preparing it.
From everyone at Ezie and Emil... It's All about food
