What are the most healthiest foods to eat?
I was having a conversation with a new client who is trying to loose weight and just generally get healthier. He asked me what I thought are the most healthiest foods he should eat. Well, I am no expert and I am not a health practitioner so I am not qualified to tell you what to eat or not to eat. I did however asked the very same question from Google. Well this simple question had a million versions of answers.
I have been making a list of the veg/items I have seen recommended on many many sites and this is what I came up with and not in any particular order:
Kale, Collard, Cauliflower, cabbage, spinach, carrots, beets, turmeric, ginger, garlic, peas, lentils, various lettuces, chard, watercress, micro greens(shoots), asparagus, vinegar, lemon/lime/all citrus, most herbs, berries, wild caught fish, and corn.
Nothing really new but interesting to see corn and chard on the list and I also thought I would see more fruits like pomegranate listed. Perhaps due to sugar content, the fruits don't make most lists. Oh and one item I was happy to see often was olives and olive oil....my favorite thing in the whole world, OLIVE OIL!
Anyway. there is my inspiration for this weeks menu. Other than berries, chard, fish, and watercress,(we'll keep those for next weeks menu) we came up with a menu that includes these items. Corn in shape of grits. Vinegar in dressings and marinates. Peas, dried and split and as shoots.... and so on.
We hope you will enjoy them as much as we enjoy preparing them for you.
