Cold and Flu season seems to be in it's peak...

Cold and Flu season seems to be in its peak these days so we thought it would be a good time to offer items on the menu to help you bust some of the nasty bugs floating around. One of the first things that come to mind is the Master Cleanse which includes a blend of lemon, cayenne and maple syrup. Best way to have this is to make a tea/lemonade (look for it next week in Specialty items) and drink it but I think you can get some of the benefits by using these ingredients in cooking.

The chicken dish this week is marinated and roasted with the Master Cleanse blend. Pairing this with rice which is high in minerals such as calcium and iron; it is also rich in vitamins, such as niacin, vitamin D, thiamine and riboflavin. Rice also contains very low amount of saturated fats and cholesterol making it a healthful food for heart. We are adding kale to the rice which we all know is one of the best things you could ever eat!

Borscht is a perfect blend of ingredients that will warm the soul. The vegetables used in preparing borscht are rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants, and Vitamin B. and the heat from the cayenne and horseradish will definitely help clear up any stuffiness one might experience this time of the year.

We are also squeezing in all kinds of other items such as ginger, turmeric, shiitake mushrooms, dandelion, pomegranate, garlic, rosemary, citrus and.... to help you with your immune system.

We can not wait to start offering a "our farm"-to-table menu to you in the spring.

From everyone at Ezie and Emil... It's All about food
