Can you tell I am excited?!?!

I recently found out that one of my ex colleagues has taken over the operations of her family farm, Pleasant Vale Farm . Couple of weeks ago Husband I went to visit the farm and got a tour of the amazing property. As you know, I am a vegetarian so it takes a lot to get me excited about any type of meat, but I have to tell you S (the owner of the farm) had both Husband and I walking away totally impressed! The love, care, and compassion she shows the animals was amazing. The property sits on acres and acres of rolling hills facing mountains. She lives on the property so the animals are really treated as loved pets, well except the end Anyway, she sent us home with some samples and I have been testing the various option. So far I am utterly pleased. I have even tried cuts of meat or sausage that I would not normally use and go at it with but end up happily surprised each time. Clean, lean and honest are the words that come to my mind. Anyway, you might have tried the beef in the carrot rice last week, and this week we are going to prepare meatballs with ground beef. Hopefully from here on, most if not all of our meats will be coming from this amazing farm. Can you tell I am excited?!?!

As always, the menu is dictated by what is available from local farms and I am told if the expected downpour doesn't destroy plants, this weeks beauties will be figs, fennel, eggplants, courgets, capsicums, tomatillo, green onions, leeks, onions, garlic, tomatoes, cucumber, honeydew, herbs, shallots, celery, potatoes, cauliflower, daikon, broccoli, hopefully brussels, lemon grass, ginger, butter lettuce, spinach... Yum and I can't wait!!!
