Basil Oil goes on everything...
This past spring when farmers market season began but the markets were not able to open, local farmers had a difficult time with selling what they had planted months earlier not knowing what was going to hit. I reached out to some of my friends and family to see how we could support them a bit. So each week few of these farms would text me a list of what would be available, I shared the list with friends/family and together we all placed our orders, then Husband and I picked up and distributed the glorious veg and plants to everyone. It was not much but the farmers were very grateful and it saved all of us from going to the store for fresh produce. Also it gave Husband and I something to do.
When the markets finally opened, one of these farmers gave me a boat load of basil as a thank you. I had enough basil in the garden at the time for our personal use and I didn't know what I could do with all that gorgeous basil I was gifted. I'm Persian, and we eat raw herbs with every meal but I mean there is just one of me.... How much pesto could I feed my family? So I experimented with making basil oil. OMG, anyone who knows me, knows I love olive oil but now I have Husband hooked on this stuff. Basil Oil goes on everything, he puts it on literally everything he eats. I'm thinking this week before the frost kills all the organic basil we are growing, I should make some of this oil to share with you. Hope you will enjoy it as much as my family is ;)
It has been a tradition for my family to have pumpkin soup and shepards pie on Halloween, I've been telling you the story for 6 or so years now so I will spare you this time but, tis the season
Hope you will enjoy the meals as much as we enjoy gathering and preparing them for you!
From everyone at Ezie and Emil... It's All about food
