Geymeh Bademjan- this might sound like a tongue twister!
Geymeh Bademjan- this might sound like a tongue twister to you but it is one of the best creations in Persian cuisine. Split peas braised with tomatoes, saffron and dried lime then topped with caramelized onions and .... it is what Mama or Sis#1 have made for me every year for my birthday. When I prepare it, it makes me think of family, love, and being together. It fills my heart withlove.
I thought it would be fun this week to deconstruct this dish and serve it to you as a Bowl. It just seems to be a good week for this dish since by the time it gets to you the election has passed and either you are happy with the results or disappointed but I hope you remember that you are lucky to have the freedom to choose and even if your side doesn't win this time, in four years you get another another go at it. Remember that folks like my family came to this country leaving family, friends, home, wealth and luxury behind to have freedom. The idea of being able to have the absolute opposite opinion and ideals from your friends and neighbors, yet being able to express it freely, is a precious gift. Anyway, let's hope this beautiful country of ours remembers on Wednesday how amazing every single person is for who they are and the fact that we all have different ideas and opinions and have the freedom to express or act on it, is what makes this home. Love!
And for the rest of the menu, as always, it is dictated by first what is available local, organic and seasonal and then rest is just having fun :)
Hope you will enjoy this week's menu as much as we have fun preparing it for you!
Hope you will enjoy the meals as much as we enjoy gathering and preparing them for you!
